 Engage a company that specializes in moving pets or arrange to take them with you

remembering to keep their needs, such as food, from being packed with the truck

 

As Moving Day Approaches

 Look into pet transfer, or make sure that pet supplies are set aside to keep with you

if your pets are accompanying you on your trip during your move

 Set aside clothes for trip

 Review the Packing Tips on this website to ensure that you have disposed of all

items that cannot be moved

 Remove oil and fuel from power equipment (e.g. lawn mowers)

 Take your old address book

 Have a garage sale and give away old clothes

 Pack suitcases

 

Pack a starter carton for your new house consisting of

 Telephones

 Light bulbs

 Soap, Towels, Toilet Paper

 Snacks, Beverages, can opener

 Tool kit and flashlight

 Plates, cups, cutlery etc.

 

Moving Day

 Eat a hearty breakfast

 Have a friend watch your children at their home

 Show movers all room letting them know what items should not move

 Make final walkthrough

 Take baby needs

 Shut off gas and water valves

 Ask mover for charges

 

Remember to

 Re-register to vote in your new location (in California)
